Why Tenant's Insurance? The Owners of the rental properties insures the building itself. Their coverage does NOT protect you or your personal possessions. Here are three reasons to have tenant insurance: - Your landlord's insurance most likely does not cover any upgrades you may have made to your rental unit and paid for yourself. For example, you may have installed upgraded carpets or added built-in shelving units in the closets.
- Your landlord's insurance will not cover your personal belongings. Your jewellery, artwork, furniture, entertainment equipment and other valuable belongings will not be protected.
- You will not be protected against personal liability should you accidentally damage a neighbour's property or should someone be injured while visiting your home.
Each type of tenant insurance could also be extended to cover seasonal properties, boats and more. Note that this is not a requirement for our rentals but highly recommended for your protection because you will not have this under the Owner/Landlord policy.
